Even since a few days ago, I have noticed that on one of my Windows PCs fonts look smaller and somewhat more "condensed" but only in some dialogs of some legacy Windows applications.
I didn't change any display scaling settings, it's 100% on all monitors.
Notice how in the second screenshot (taken in the affected system) even the window geometry looks different. It is larger despite the fonts looking smaller, which is truly bizarre.
I have tried any solution I could find online:
- clearing the font cache,
- restoring the default values for some obscure registry settings
all to no avail.
